The revival of rock’n’roll in Britain in 1968 was noticed by tv and came in the shape of ‘Rock’n’roll Revival?’ an episode of the series ‘Good Evening’ (shown on ATV on Saturday at 6:30pm) hosted by the annoying and smug Jonathan King. I’ve edited two excerpts from the videos below so that no one has to listen to his introduction …
The second excerpt ends with a performance by At Last the 1968 Rock’n’Roll Revival Show.
John Keeble remembers (YTcomm) : “I remember the night well, I was the one he was interviewing. We were recruited for the show from the 59 club and turned up on the night to be ushered in to a canteen where we all had a chat with PJ Proby who was on the show as well, also there was the pop group ‘Traffic’ and the two girl group ‘The Caravelles’. Jonathan King did make a reference to “poncy little mods” once which caused a round of applause. Can’t believe it was 46 years ago!”
*Starkicker comments “funny thing was, ol carl wayne turned into a poncey caberet singer a year after this!”
