1987 Tall Bopper and the Shakers, Bourges, France

1986 single

Tall Bopper and the Shakers, a group from Bourges, a city in the heart of France, were still championing the teddy boy cause in the mid 1980s. Here in this video they play ‘rockabilly dance’ and – following the interview – the instrumental ‘deep canyon’ (both their own compositions). In the video the ‘fashionable’ (!) presenter interviews the lead guitarist Laurent Fages (him with the sideburns) and ‘Tall Bopper’ himself (Dominique Gimonet). Sadly, Dominique died in August 2011 aged only 48 years old (there’s a small article about him on page 28 of number 58 of the French magazine Rock and Roll Revue written by one of his friends, Tony Marlow).
