1978 – 1983 Finland, the rockin’ nation

Here is a half-hour Finnish tv-programme from 2007 Elävä Arkisto ‘Live Archive’ revisiting the Finnish rockin’ revival of the late 1970s and 1980s when Finland experienced the strongest revival of fifties music in Europe and the World which made them the world’s rockingest nation of the time, a tradition that has fortunately not been lost completely …

The clips include : Matchbox singing ‘midnite dynamos’ in 1981 (1:25) ; speaking with some rock’n’roll fans in 1981 (1:59) ; interview with Teddy and the Tigers in 1978 (2:40) ; two teenagers in the countryside trying to learn Elvis poses in 1978 (3:36) ; Jam Rock Band singing ‘wastin’ my time’ live in 1979 (4:20) ; a dad talking to his rockin’ son about rock’n’roll  (5:33) ; The Ducktails singing ‘rockin’ daddy’ (6:07) ; interview with a 17-year-old fifties revivalist in his home (6:58) ; a long ‘present-day’ interview with Keke Siuruainen, singer of the 1980s band The Slippers (8:38-16:35), unfortunately for Finnish-speakers only ; Jam Rock Band singing in 1978 (9:34) ; The Slippers singing ‘Ubangi stomp’ in 1981 (17:09).
